About
Meet Suzanne Mendonca . . .

Suzanne Mendonca, a qualified teacher, entrepreneur, dance lecturer, featured magazine writer, event co-ordinator and an adjudicator has achieved success across the dance education industry by using her unique ‘MIA’ Teaching and Learning technique. Suzanne has applied this teaching and learning technique when co-ordinating and structuring intense style courses and has used this in her teaching of confidence building.
Single mother Suzanne worked as a school teacher for 8 years before utilising her Business Studies degree and establishing her first business in 1999. By combining her passion for dance together with her business knowledge and skills as a teacher, DanceMode dance school and after school clubs were created. After successfully completing a second university degree course at BCUC, Suzanne was able to channel her skills as an experienced educator and structure the intensive DanceMode Dance Teacher Training Courses which are delivered together with her sister, Dawn. The 'MIA' system stands for, Motivational and Intentional learning with Achievable objectives. Suzanne states,
"From the beginning it is important for every learner to declare what it is they are hoping to achieve from their learnings. Once all aims are clarified, and the student becomes more aware of their learning style they are then able to engage more effectively with the programme."
The courses delivered by the sisters were the first successful intensive dance teacher training courses of this kind in the UK. They have since
mentored and empowered many dancers into becoming dancepreneurs. In a project to raise money for the charity 'DanceAid', 'Dancepreneur TV was also created. The objective of this online TV show is to raise awareness of prominent successful dance owners in the industry and inspire dancers looking to start their own businesses.

Through Suzanne’s passion for teaching she is able to help others structure their learning and develop their confidence to both express themselves and achieve their goals. Suzanne implements her confidence building strategies in the performing arts classses offered in her dance school as well as in the events organised such as workshops, exams and collaborative/community events.

Suzanne has spent the majority of her working life in the education and training industry and feels that being a teacher provided the springboard from which all businesses she is involved in emerged.
